We must bring about a state in which the Polish Army will be able to defend itself and carry out everything that ultimately leads to victory in the war, said PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński. As he added, “there are indications that the war in Ukraine may end with a compromise, not a final settlement, and this, unfortunately, will mean that new dangers may come soon.”

President on Monday PIS together with the Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of National Defence Mariusz Blaszczakthe General Commander of the Branches of the Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, and other military commanders, took part in a conference at the Warsaw Academy of War Art entitled “A year from the act on defense of the homeland – a year of important changes”.

– A year ago (…) a decision of very serious importance was indeed taken. To be precise, the first stage has been completed. Because this decision, in fact, referred to something that must be supported by law, must be regulated by law, but what concerns the realities – which matter primarily in terms of national defense, our ability to deter, and ultimately also the ability to repel the attack – said Kaczyński.

As he added, it is also about “the position and status of our country.” – Status is different from position. Position changes, but status is something permanent. It is about the status of a significant, respected and subjective, sovereign state. A strong army is both a sign and a guarantee of getting all this, continued the PiS president.

– That is why this plan, which was included in the act on defense of the homeland, is a plan that applies not only to the armed forces. It is a plan referring to the situation of our country, our homeland, everything that will determine its fate in uncertain, new times. We have to be prepared for any eventuality,” he said.

He added that war in Ukraine indicates that “the army today must be an army sufficiently numerous and at the same time properly armed”. – In various aspects, both in terms of fire capabilities, the ability to repel an air attack, and – this is especially important today on the Ukrainian front – offensive capabilities – he added.

– We must lead to a state in which the Polish Army will have all these capabilities to the full. It will be able to defend itself, to counterattack – because we don’t want to attack anyone first – it will be able to carry out everything related to activities that ultimately lead to victory in the war. We have to build a victorious army – said the PiS president.

Kaczyński: there are indications that the war in Ukraine may end with a compromise

– Today we do not know how the war may end on Ukraine. There are indications that it may end with a certain compromise, and not a final settlement, and this, unfortunately, will mean that new dangers may come soon. We do not want such a solution – said Kaczyński. “We fully support the Ukrainians in their demand that all their territory be liberated, but not everything depends on us,” he added. According to him, “the state of readiness must be obtained quickly and the army is the basis here.” – You have the right, ladies and gentlemen, to expect support from all parts of the state apparatus, but also from at least that part of society that really experiences these motivations, these emotions – emotions related to patriotism, belonging to the Polish nation – he said to the gathered Kaczynski. As he said, he is convinced that “there are enough such Poles for our army to implement its plans.”

He stated that there are many good ideas in the army and that they are already being implemented. – But more is needed. 250,000 soldiers of the operational forces plus 50,000 WOTbecause that’s the goal. It’s really not easy today,” he added.
