Jarosław Kaczyński’s decision not to run from Warsaw is a negative image – said Professor Andrzej Rychard, sociologist and director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In his opinion, another change would potentially be a greater threat to the PiS president, because then Donald Tusk could score him, saying that “he no longer has the strength to chase him around Poland.” According to him, with the decision to send Roman Giertych to the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship, “Donald Tusk stabilized Jarosław Kaczyński” in this region. – In short, he made it more difficult for him to meander around Poland – said the TVN24 guest.

On Saturday, Jarosław Kaczyński confirmed the reports that will not appear on electoral lists in the capitalwhere the “one” from the list of the Civic Coalition is the head of PO Donald Tusk. As the president of Law and Justice stated, “from the point of view of the interests of the party, and I have to submit to them, this is better, more effective.” There is information that Kaczyński is considering starting from a district in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.

On Sunday, the chairman of the Civic Platform announced that on the list of the Civic Coalition to the Sejm in the province. Świętokrzyskie Roman Giertych will start from the last position. – So that you don’t feel lonely, so that you feel a little better – and I’m doing it just for you, Jaroslaw Kaczynski – I will put your Deputy Prime Minister Roman Giertych in last place on this list, on our list – he turned to the PiS president.

Rychard: this is an escape and a negative image

Jarosław Kaczyński’s decision to start from a district other than Warsaw was commented on Monday by sociologist Professor Andrzej Rychard on TVN24. “It’s an escape, however motivated it may be,” he said. – It is true that in Świętokrzyskie you can mark your presence even more strongly, you can show that you are close to the local community, and not only to the central “Warszawka”, so Law and Justice will try to justify it somehow – said the sociologist.

As he pointed out, even if an important part of the motivation that influenced Kaczyński’s decision to move from Warsaw to the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is actually acting in the interest of the party and the PiS president turns a blind eye to emerging interpretations that he does so out of fear of confrontation with the PO leader, this – according to Rychard – “the dominant image is the one pointed out by Donald Tusk at yesterday’s meeting in Sopot, that it is an escape”.

– And this is in a way an image-related, maybe not a failure, but certainly an image-related minus – assessed prof. Richard. As he added, “this logic of electoral arithmetic really defends itself when it comes to leaving Warsaw, but in the comparison: fleeing Warsaw and avoiding debate, this duo no longer defends itself.”

– Politics, however, is also about emotions and this level of emotion is built by such slogans: you are running away, I will now give you such an opponent that you will only see – said the TVN24 guest.

Sociologist: Another change would potentially be a greater threat to Kaczynski

According to prof. Rychard, if Jarosław Kaczyński announced now that he would not start from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, it would be “potentially even more dangerous” for him. – If now it turns out that Jarosław Kaczyński is moving, I don’t know, to Podkarpackie, Lubelskie or Elbląg, then Tuski comes out and says: “Jarosław, I no longer have the strength to keep you chasing after Poland. Why are you running away from everywhere? In Warsaw you were scared of me, in Świętokrzyskie you were scared of Roman Giertych, I don’t really know what to do to stop scaring you anymore, I don’t have the strength to chase you anymore.” It would be really inconvenient for Kaczyński if he did not appear in Świętokrzyskie now, assessed the sociologist. As he predicted, such a decision would be “ruthlessly exploited” again by his political opponents.

According to prof. Rychard’s decision to put Roman Giertych there, “Donald Tusk stabilized Jarosław Kaczyński” in this region. – In short, it made it more difficult for him to meander around Poland – he said.

He noted, however, that “Kaczyński may not care about such image issues, because he is an extremely pragmatic politician.” – If it turns out that it is better, despite some image loss, to move out of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and go somewhere else, he will swallow it, that Tusk will be mercilessly scoring again. Also here, nothing is really known – said the TVN24 guest.
