Zbigniew L. is the president's trusted man PIS Jarosław Kaczyński, often called his “bodyguard”. The Warsaw prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation based on a notification from the Płock concern regarding property damage to the company in the total amount of PLN 393,600.
Remuneration for detective services. Zbigniew L. heard the charge of abuse of power
As we can read on the portal wnp.plprosecutor Mateusz Martyniuk informed the Polish Press Agency that Zbigniew L. “heard the accusation of abusing the granted powers”. What is it about? According to investigators, the former director of the Control and Security Office in Orlen “approved the payments salaries an entity providing detective services to Orlen SA, despite knowing that these services were not performed in accordance with the agreements, thereby causing significant financial damage to the company”. In 2021, the Płock concern concluded two agreements with entities providing detective services. Their subject was to identify and document the activities of unfair competition towards Orlen.
Meanwhile, the entity only provided the company with materials regarding the activities of politicians who were in opposition to the then government, which were of no economic significance to the company.
– explains prosecutor Martyniuk. Zbigniew L. did not admit to the accusation and refused to provide explanations. The prosecutor's office emphasizes that it plans further procedural actions in this case. No preventive measures were applied against the former director of the Office of Control and Security in Orlen.
Orlen allegedly spent nearly PLN 3 million on detective services
In June Radio ZET reported that two detective companies were conducting surveillance on behalf of Orlen. The company was supposed to pay almost PLN 3 million for the services. The companies were founded by former officers of the Internal Security Agency and the Military Counterintelligence Service. “According to our informants, they were spying on the then president of KGHM Tomasz Zdzikot and the former vice president of the capital Robert Soszyński at the behest of Orlen,” reported Mariusz Gierszewski, an investigative journalist for Radio Zet.
According to unofficial findings, Daniel Obajtek met with hired detectives at least once. On “detective activities” for Orlen Prime Minister Donald Tusk recalled in March. – We have documentation on what the detective hired by Mr. President Obajtek was doing – indicated the head of government. Tusk said that the detectives were to follow Civic Platform MPs Marcin Kierwiński and Jan Grabiec, as well as PO MEP Andrzej Halicki. Daniel Obajtek firmly denied these allegations on social media.
