Hollywood is banding collectively to assist the residents of Hawaii.

After Hurricane Dora, a Class 4 storm, handed by means of Hawaii, its winds fueled a wildfire that destroyed the Maui city of Lahaina. On Aug. 10, Maui County confirmed that 36 individuals died within the hearth, with authorities saying that greater than 11,000 had been evacuated from the island to this point, according to NBC News.

One resident told the outlet, “We have now the worst catastrophe I’ve ever seen. All Lahiana is burnt to a crisp and it is like an apocalypse.”

When catastrophe struck on Aug. 8, 14 individuals on the northwest facet of the island needed to escape the flames and smoke by fleeing into the ocean, per NBC News. The residents have been rescued by the Coast Guard the next day.

“The Coast Guard has been responding to impacted areas the place residents are getting into the ocean as a result of smoke and hearth situations,” Maui County officers mentioned in an announcement Aug. 9. “People have been transported by the Coast Guard to protected areas.”

As of Aug. 10, there are six fires blazing in Maui and the Huge Island which have burned throughout 2,000 acres, based on Hawaii Emergency Administration.
