A pair of elk bathing in the Baltic Sea against the background of the setting sun in Jastarnia was immortalized by a photographer and a parachute jumper who came to the seaside from Wrocław. He was supposed to photograph paratroopers, but the unusual sight of animals in the water changed his plans.
Maciej Załuski, a photographer and parachute jumper from Wrocław, after arriving in Jastarnia, wanted to check the plan of jumps in which he was to participate for the next week.
– I went to the SkydiveHel zone to check what time the party will start, to complete all the formalities so as not to waste time in the morning. On the spot, I found out that a plane from SkyCamp will arrive soon and the jumpers will land on the beach. I didn’t have time to go back to the hotel to get my camera, so armed only with my cell phone, I headed towards the landing site, he says.
Moose won with jumpers
At some point, between one of the bunkers in Jastarnia and entrance no. 41, he noticed moose bathing in the Baltic Sea. The photographer admits that he had a dilemma whether to observe the unusual phenomenon or chase the jumpers’ plane. However, he stated that he prefers to follow animals, because he already has a lot of photos of jumps in his collection. The photographer managed to document their bath against the background of the setting sun.
– From a safe distance, I started taking pictures of them. I’m sorry I didn’t have a telephoto lens with me. The moose were calm, they did not pay attention to me, they took care of themselves. They walked along the beach, went into the water, and so on, the photographer explains.
