The Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa reached an agreement with trade unions on incentive awards. The crew will receive bonuses of up to PLN 11.5 thousand per employee. The company will allocate about PLN 230 million gross for prizes.

The JSW crew will receive incentive prizes

In the agreement concluded on Tuesday, it was agreed that the award would be paid on July 21 this year. The individual amount of the incentive prize is discretionary and will amount to a maximum of PLN 11.5 thousand. PLN gross for employees working underground, PLN 9.5 thousand. PLN gross for employees at Zakład Przeróbki Mechanicznej Węgla and PLN 7.5 thousand. PLN gross for other employees.

The gross amount of the incentive bonus paid will amount to approximately PLN 230 million and will not exceed the remuneration fund for 2023 set out in the Agreement of February 8, 2023.

The director of a given JSW organizational unit will decide on the amount of the bonus for each employee. The reward will be paid – according to the unions – “for the company’s commitment and financial results”.

“The amount of the individual incentive award depends on the employee’s involvement in the performance of duties and official tasks, is discretionary and may not be the subject of the employee’s claims” – the agreement states.

Negotiations regarding the payment of a one-time bonus have been going on at JSW for several weeks. Initially, trade unionists insisted that the benefit be paid in June, on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of JSW.

Remuneration of JSW employees

In the February wage agreement, it was agreed that from January this year. salaries of employees of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa increase by an average of 15.4 percent. As it was reported at the time, the increase will cost the company approx. PLN 580 million this year. Initially, the representative unions (Solidarity, the Federation of the Miners’ Trade Union and the Kadra union) demanded a 25 percent increase in wages, which would cost the company about PLN 910 million a year.

Last year, salaries at JSW increased by 10 percent. In July last year, employees were also paid a one-time bonus in the amount of PLN 13,000. up to 19 thousand PLN gross, which cost the company approx. PLN 480 million.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is Europe’s largest producer of coking coal used for steel production. The JSW capital group closed last year with a record profit of PLN 7.6 billion, and the EBITDA value amounted to PLN 10.6 billion. The group was favored by high prices of coking coal and coke.
