The police detained a 32-year-old truck driver suspected of driving under the influence of drugs. The incident took place in Jedlanka near Radom.

On Thursday morning, the duty officer of the Radom police station received a report about a truck standing on the road with the driver in it.

“Witnesses on the spot tried to get inside the vehicle, but it was locked and there was no contact with the driver. He did not respond to any signals or calls” – said Dorota Wiatr-Kurzawa from the Radom police. The police and ambulance arrived at the scene. After examining the man, paramedics determined that the man was healthy and there was nothing wrong with him. “During the conversation with the policemen, the driver explained that while driving he felt a physiological need, so he stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and went into the nearby bushes, and after returning to the car he fell asleep” – reported the policewoman.

The 32-year-old could not logically explain his behavior and was very agitated, so the police examined him for alcohol content in the exhaled air. “He was sober. However, after taking a drug test, it turned out that the man may be under the influence of amphetamines” – said the policewoman.

The uniformed transported the driver to take blood for further tests. The driver’s license was suspended and the truck that was blocking the road was handed over to the owner.

The 32-year-old will now appear in court. For driving a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant, he faces up to 2 years in prison.
