Ewelina Witenberg talked to the film’s director Rebecca Moore and actress Anne Hathaway in Berlin. A TVN24 journalist asked Moore how Joanna Kulig was cast in one of the main roles. “When I wrote the role, it was based on someone I knew: a Polish woman who was a cleaner and her life changed because of an unhappy marriage,” the filmmaker replied. – So my character was based entirely on her and I really wanted a Polish actress to play this role, not an American who pretended to be an accent. As the daughter of a European woman, I believe there is something different about really being an immigrant from a specific country and not pretending to be one, she stressed.

– Joanna is the greatest Polish actress I know. I saw her in two films – “Ida” and “Cold War” – and I turned to her at the beginning. It was great to work with her, she is so gentle and smiling, and when the camera is recording, she exudes incredible strength, added Moore.

Hathaway: Her participation in this film was our desire

“Her part in this film was our desire and we were very happy that she said yes. When I look at someone like Joanna, who can play instruments, sing like an angel, act in movies and be a mother, partner or friend at the same time, I believe that we should support women to be versatile – she added.
