The speech of the Chief of Police Jarosław Szymczyk in the case of Mrs. Joanna was a political message that flowed from the electoral staff at Nowogrodzka Street – said the MP of the Left, Tomasz Trela, adding that “politicians rule the police”. – They believe that nothing has happened, but this is a classic mechanism to simply protect their own people – said Cezary Tomczyk, a member of the Civic Coalition. Family Minister Marlena Maląg assessed that “Donald Tusk, as the chief hater of our country, divides society”.

In recent days, there has been a discussion about the case of Joanna, who decided to take an abortion pill because the pregnancy was supposed to threaten her health. She felt bad both physically and mentally. She informed her doctor about it. In the Krakow hospital, she was interrogated and searched by the police. The officers took her laptop and phone. The case was presented by “Fakty” TVN.

Jarosław Szymczyk, the chief of the police, presented recordings at a press conference, which recorded a call to the emergency number by Mrs. Joanna’s doctor and the receipt of a report in this case by the police. When asked by TVN24 about the actions taken by the police in the hospital, Szymczyk replied that “this is a normal procedure for people who we suspect want to take their own lives.”

“Today I just made sure that the police were hunting me for an abortion. I never said my mood was about abortion. I made it more than a week before calling the doctor – Joanna commented on Thursday’s police press conference in an interview. Her attorney announced that she would submit a notification to the prosecutor’s office in connection with the actions of the police.

Trela: Politicians rule the police

Joanna’s case and Thursday’s speech by Commander Szymczyk were commented on by Tomasz Trela, an MP from the Left. – There is no leadership in the police because the police are run by politicians. Yesterday, the speech of the chief police officer was a political message that flowed from the election headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street, because making these conversations public, such a panic attempt to appease or cover what the policemen really did, shows that such a real policeman, the chief policeman, should not behave – he said.

– However, as Joachim Brudziński is behind all this, I am not surprised that the commander received a card, received a message from Nowogrodzka Street. He was ordered to read to appease this dispute, because it is draconian what the policemen and policewomen did, because what this lady went through should never have happened and heads should roll for this – both the minister of internal affairs and administration and the chief of police – he said. – This is how it should be in a democratic state ruled by law – he added.

Tomczyk: The police have nothing to blame

Cezary Tomczyk, a member of the Civic Coalition, stressed that “the police have nothing to reproach themselves with.” – They think that nothing happened, but it’s such a classic mechanism to just protect your own. What else would you call it, he asked.

“Anyone here who knows anything about life knows that something very bad has happened. And instead of the police first drawing the consequences, initiating disciplinary proceedings against these policemen, they organize a conference to hit this lady again, show the recordings, expose her story and not draw any consequences against the policemen – he said.

– And this in a normal country, really, in 2023 in the center of Europe should not happen – he added.

Żukowska: The PiS authorities create a police and oppressive state

Left-wing MP Anna Maria Żukowska said that “PiS power violates women’s rights everywhere, creates a police and oppressive state.” – Mrs. Dagmara, Mrs. Justyna, Mrs. Joanna, but it can also be your mother, your daughter, your sister, but it can also be you, each of us who will be put in a situation where she will have to explain everything – she added.

– What the so-called public media and the acolytes of Law and Justice do is to hunt Joanna, rummaging through her resume and trying to find some hooks that would show that the victim is not a victim – she assessed.

Maląg: women have been objectified

Joanna’s case was also commented on by the family minister, Marlena Maląg, in the company of politicians from the power camp. In her statement, she was critical of the opposition and the TVN station. – Donald Tusk, as the chief hater of our country, divides society. The policy of love that she wants to show by wearing a heart pinned to her breast is really a policy of falsehood and hypocrisy. A festival of hypocrisy and lies, she said.

– Something very bad happened. Women have been objectified. We say a resounding “no” – she said.

She called for the word “sorry” to be said. – Attack on women, doctors, policewomen – do you realize what it can lead to? A responsible woman calls and informs her that something is wrong. And what will happen when someone hesitates now and this help does not arrive in time. Do you want to take responsibility for the life and health of another human being? This is not how politics is conducted, she emphasized.

– Doctors and policemen who save the lives of Poles every day deserve thanks and respect. We appeal to the state to stop the wave of hate, hatred and cynicism that is practiced, she added.
