Bronislaw Komorowski, the former president, said in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 that the visit of US President Joe Biden to Poland will be primarily “a signal for Moscow that we, the West, are determined to maintain support for Ukraine.” He added that it would also be a signal to the countries of NATO’s eastern flank that America “stands for the security of this region.”

Ex-president Bronislaw Komorowski referred in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 to the visit of the US leader to Poland scheduled for next week.

– First of all, it will be a signal for Moscow that we, the West, are determined to maintain support for Ukraine – as the American diplomacy says at the moment – as long as it is needed – he said. – This is the first, most important signal that will come at the time of the planned or – as some media say – already launched Russian offensive – he added.

– Secondly, it is probably an important signal for all countries of the eastern flank FOR THISinvolved in supporting Ukraine, (…) that they have the right to feel safe, because America – with all its military, political and economic power – guards the security of this region and no Russian revenge for supporting Ukraine, continued the former president.

Peace negotiations with Putin? “It seems very difficult today”

Speaking about potential negotiations with Putin to end the war, Komorowski said that “today it seems very difficult.” – But I am convinced that if there is any opportunity to conclude a peace that would give Ukraine very good conditions, I think that every responsible politician, (…), every reasonable person will say – “you should talk to the devil, just to end war on terms favorable to Ukraine.

When asked what “a peace that would give Ukraine very good conditions” would mean, he replied that “for example, regaining lost territories, not only through military but also diplomatic means.”
