A Virginia court pronounced Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard. The actor managed to convince the jury that his ex-wife violated his reputation in a column for The Washington Post. It has been decided that Heard is guilty of defamation on the ex-spouse and must pay him 15 million in damages.

The civil trial began in the first half of April and lasted over six weeks. Last Friday both sides made closing speeches.

Before 8 p.m. Polish time, Reuters announced that the jurors had made a decision in the case both by Depp and Heard’s counter-suit. The decision was announced after 3:20 PM EST (9:20 PM EST). Judge Penney Azcarate said the jury decided Heard was guilty of defamation against Depp. $ 15 million was ordered for him.

Johnny Depp was not present in the courtroom during the pronouncement of the sentence. The actor is in Great Britain, where he took part in a Jeff Beck concert over the weekend. Amber Heard heard the decision personally.

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation for a column that appeared in the Washington Post in 2018. His ex-partner then wrote that she had been a victim of domestic violence in the past and that her partner had abused her both physically and mentally. Depp’s name was not mentioned in the article, but the actor and his defense said that he clearly indicated him as the attacker. They accused Amber Heard of defamation and demanded $ 50 million in damages from her.
