Two men robbed a shop at the market square in Jordanów (Małopolska). Soon after, police detained the suspects. They found them in a car driven by a 16-year-old without a license.
The story seems partly inspired by the plot of the movie “Baby Driver”, in which a teenage driver helps robbers to escape from a crime scene. The Jordanian policemen received a report of theft on Tuesday morning. – Two thieves escaped from the store, who, taking advantage of the inattention of a store employee, stole money from the cash register – said Sebastian Gleń, a spokesman for the Małopolska police.
The policemen began their search. Soon they noticed a Mitsubishi car on one of the streets, in which the suspects were located. – It turned out that the perpetrators of the theft were a 30-year-old resident of the Sucha County and a 31-year-old resident of the Nowy Targ County. The driver turned out to be a 16-year-old resident of the Sucha County, who accidentally took his older colleagues to his car – said Gleń.
Officers determined that the teenager did not have a driving license. In addition, they found a small amount of dried plants, which after research turned out to be marijuana, and cartridges for hunting weapons were found in the car he was driving.
The 16-year-old was not under the influence of alcohol, but a drug test was positive. Blood was taken from the young driver for further tests.
– After a night spent in the police rooms for detainees, the passengers of the car were taken to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Sucha Beskidzka, where, on the basis of the collected evidence, the prosecutor presented them with a charge of impudent theft, for which he may be imprisoned for up to eight years – informs the spokesman.
