This requires political will and, above all, financial resources, said outgoing EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell at a conference in Warsaw. The head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, emphasized that Europe has an obligation to “support the principles of international law to restore the taboo that the border in Europe cannot be changed by force.”

– There are changes on the front line. There are changes in European capitals. There are the results of the American elections. This means that decision times are coming, he added.
He emphasized that Europe is responsible for its citizens, its neighborhood and future generations. – He has an obligation to make every effort to reach a fair agreement, to support the principles of international law, to restore the taboo that the border in Europe cannot be changed by force, Sikorski said. – If these rules cease to apply as a result of our actions or inaction, a dark future awaits us – added the minister.

Borrell: it cannot be that Americans act and Europeans only react
– I just returned from my last visit to Ukraine and stopped in Warsaw on the way. Ukraine is our top priority during our political mandate. It is also a great priority for Poland, Borrell said at the conference.
He noted that “European support for Ukraine was important” and reached a “level unmatched in history.” – But much more needs to be done – he added.
– Poland has always led the European Union's efforts to give Ukraine what it needs for its own self-defense. Poland remains a key country to support this much-needed support for Ukraine, he said. Borrell stressed that Ukraine “needs this support at this crucial moment.”
The head of EU diplomacy announced that, among other things, EU ministers will discuss this issue during the next Foreign Affairs Council, which will be held next Monday.
