This ends the stage of the court battle for one’s own good name, but also for what judges are fighting for, for the good name of the judiciary – said Judge Justyna Koska-Janusz in an interview with TVN24, who won the case against the Minister of Justice before the Supreme Court Zbigniew Ziobro. – This verdict is really important. It shows that boundaries must be set. The limits of insulting, throwing insults at judges – she commented.
Supreme Court decided on Friday that the Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro must apologize to Warsaw judge Justyna Koska-Janusz in a lawsuit for infringement of personal rights. The Supreme Court dismissed the cassation of the head of the Ministry of Justice of March 2020.
Thus, the long-term civil lawsuit that Koska-Janusz brought to the Minister of Justice – the State Treasury for infringement of her personal rights after the publication of the statement of the Ministry of Justice of October 2016 on the shortening of her delegation to the district court ended. On Saturday, in an interview with TVN24, the judge commented on the decision of the Supreme Court. – The information for me was very surprising, because I did not expect that the verdict would be handed down that day – she admitted.
– I must admit that I was very happy about this information. This ends the real stage of the court battle for one’s own good name, but also for what judges are fighting for, for the good name of the judiciary, she assessed. She added that the judgment of the Supreme Court “was really very good, satisfying information for her.”

Judge Koska-Janusz: We have been facing constant attacks for many years
The TVN24 interviewee was asked what this ruling means for her, but also for the entire judicial community.
– This verdict is the most important for me because it is my good name as a judge that has been damaged. It was me who was offended by the Minister of Justice in the communiqué (…), I was written about as a judge who is incompetent, unable to deal with the simplest cases – she pointed out.
– But I believe that this is also an important judgment for other judges, because for many years we have been facing constant attacks on the judiciary, on judges personally, the authority of the judiciary is constantly undermined – assessed Koska-Janusz.

In her opinion, “such a verdict is really very important.” – It shows that boundaries must be set. The limits of insulting, insulting judges, attributing to them features that they do not have or actions that they do not take – she said.
The Warsaw judge added that “we must not forget that practically since 2015-2016, especially judges as a professional group, we have been subjected to constant attacks from representatives of the executive power.”
