Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appealed to Tomasz Grodzki, the Speaker of the Senate, not to delay, but to convene the meeting as soon as possible. As he said, it would be best if the Senate adopted the amendment to the law on the Supreme Court and other laws without amendments. According to the head of government, the first money from KPO could reach Poland in the third or fourth quarter of this year.

The Senate passed it on Friday amendments to the Act on the Supreme Court and other acts, which, according to PiS, is to complete a key “milestone” for the European Commission to unlock money from the National Reconstruction Plan. None of the opposition’s 14 amendments received support in the vote. After the vote, the head of the KO club Boris Budka he told reporters that the Senate would pass the amendments.

Prime Minister with an appeal to the Speaker of the Senate

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with RMF FM on Saturday, he admitted that thanks to the abstention of part of the opposition, it is still possible to work on these regulations. “At least part of the opposition has behaved properly,” he said. – I am appealing to the Marshal of the Senate not to delay, but to convene a meeting of the Senate as soon as possible. The bill has been known for a long time, therefore there is no reason to prolong this process, added the Prime Minister.

The head of the government expressed his conviction that “the majority of the political class will understand how important it is that the KPO should be adopted, especially in the era of war in Ukraine“.

When asked what the Sejm should do after any amendments to the amendment to the act were introduced by the Senate, he replied: – I will ask you to go through this procedure as soon as possible, to reject the amendments, if any. It would be best if the Senate adopted this bill, after all approved by the European Commission, without amendments.

Morawiecki on the attitude of Solidarity Poland

When asked about the attitude of Solidarna Polska, which voted against the amendment, Morawiecki said that this group emphasized the risks associated with these regulations. – The reasons they presented to us were also laid out in a very matter-of-fact way. And it’s not that I don’t share them in any way. I also share these concerns. Especially since we were sometimes treated unfairly by the European Commission. Only politics is the art of achieving goals in the circumstances we find ourselves in, he said.

He assured that United Right will still be “united”.

The first money from KPO could reach Poland “in the third or fourth quarter of this year”

According to the head of the government, the first tranche of money from KPO may reach Poland in the second half of the year. – I think that in the third, in the fourth quarter of this year, the tranche may hit. On the other hand, we want to submit an application for funds from the KPO literally after the entry of the Wind Farm Act on the agenda of the Sejm, i.e. probably in about 10 days – he added.

He assured that the draft law on the Supreme Court had been presented to the negotiating team on the side of the European Commission. – She was recognized as the one who fulfills the provisions of the compromise. So it’s hard for me to imagine that the European Commission now she was contradicting herself, but I’ve seen different things in the past, so I wouldn’t cut my hand off said the prime minister.

Morawiecki: I will take part in the parliamentary elections from Silesia

Morawiecki was asked “whether he is thinking about political retirement after such a hard year.” – Do I look retired? I intend to fight in these different areas for a quarter of a century – he replied. He announced that he had decided to run in the next parliamentary elections. He will fight for the mandate, as in the previous elections, in Silesia.
