The house in Washington, where culinary pioneer Julia Child lived with her husband, is waiting for a new buyer. The famous cook called him a “little gem” and it was here that she created her most remembered masterpiece – the cookbook “Mastering The Art of French Cooking”.

Julia Child loved food and she was able to infect others with this love, both through her books and her cooking program. If cooking on the screen is our favorite pastime today, we can certainly owe it to the first woman who graduated from the prestigious Le Cordon Blue cooking school.

Julia Child’s house for sale

No wonder that Julia Child’s house for sale is a real real estate flavor. The 19th century yellow house in Georgetown, which Child called “the little gem”, is a mansion measuring over 300 square meters.

The Child family lived there until 1961. After they moved out, Julia’s jewel lost its splendor a bit, the subsequent owners did not care about this charming house. Finally, in 2015, entrepreneur Rory Veevers-Carter bought the property and restored the house completely.

The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, of course its undeniable heart is the kitchen and dining room. The investor also did not forget about the history of this house. On the facade, right next to the door, there is a small plaque commemorating Julia Child, the woman who brought French cuisine to American homes.

The house was valued at $ 3.5 million, and TTR Sotheby’s International Realty is responsible for its sale.

Julie and Julia

In 2002, writer Julie Powell started a project which consisted in implementing all the recipes contained in the book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” in one year. She wrote about her experiences on a blog on an ongoing basis, and in 2005 she published in the form of a book entitled “Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen” (the title was changed in a later edition to “Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously” ).

In 2009, the book was based on Julie and Julia, directed by Nora Ephron, with Meryl Streep as Julia Child and Amy Adams as Julie Powell.
