The Polish national team did not play well that day. They lacked aggression, centimeters and, it seems, simply – skills. This time the center with Szymański, Zieliński and Urbański performed poorly, and only Nicola Zalewski can be distinguished, who once again showed that he is one of the leaders of the team. Additionally, Łukasz Skorupski probably made it clear that he will not give up the status of the first goalkeeper in the team to anyone.
Just look at what the Croatian portal did. One big embarrassment
– Luka Modrić is a champion. Almost the best player in the world. He scored a beautiful goal, congratulations to him – said the Bologna player immediately after the match. And it's hard to disagree with him. “Modrić led Croatia to victory after a great goal,” tportal.hr wrote. A little later, however, he made a fatal mistake in a post-match article.
“Croat line-up: Livaković – Sutalo, Caleta-Car, Gvardiol…” – everything is correct. When fans wanted to read the starting eleven of the Polish national team, they could be surprised. “Bułka – Bednarek, Dawidowicz, Kiwior, Frankowski (…) – Piątek, Lewandowski” – it was described. Apparently, the journalists did not verify the information, but simply copied the line-up of our team from the match with the Scots. It must be admitted that this is a big embarrassment.
It is possible that only one portal made such a blunder, because index.hr and sportnet.hr provided the correct list. “Modrić's championship and well-deserved three points,” the latter announced. “Modrić secured Croatia's victory with a brilliant goal, this move will go viral throughout the football world!” – this is the headline of the post-match report on the sportske.jutarnji.hr portal. The coach of the Polish national team, Michał Probierz, thinks similarly. – We will strive to make the rematch a different match – he stated.
Captain Robert Lewandowski pointed out that we lacked an aggressive approach to the opponent. – We saw that the Croatian team uses the ball well and plays it. In the second half, one mistake, a goal from a free kick and it was easier for them to play offensively. We tried, sometimes we came out, sometimes we lacked taking the ball. The Croatians did it, and we lacked it – he concluded.
The Poles will play their next LN matches in a month. First, on October 12, they will face Portugal at home, and three days later they will play the return match with the Croatians.
