After reviewing today's tapes, I am convinced that we may have a legal qualification related to participation in an organized criminal group – said Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, senator of the Civic Coalition, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He referred to the content of two conversations revealed by tvn24.pl, in which officials of the Ministry of Justice and former deputy minister Marcin Romanowski participated.

For several days now, the media have been publishing recordings made by Tomasz Mraz, former director of the Justice Fund Department at the Ministry of Justice, over the last two years. Mraz is one of the suspects in the investigation into the Justice Fund, described as the “key witness” in the case who is “slandering the gangsters.” Zbigniew Ziobro and his support from Sovereign Poland managed this ministry for years.

SCARFACE AROUND THE JUSTICE FUND

The tvn24.pl portal obtained recordings of two meetings attended by Tomasz Mraz, Marcin Romanowski, as well as two officials in charge of the Justice Fund Department, who are currently in custody – Urszula D. and Karolina K. The meetings took place in February and March this year, that is, when a special team of prosecutors was already investigating irregularities in the Justice Fund. The talks concern the strategy regarding possible hearings regarding irregularities in the Fund.

Kwiatkowski: the prosecutor's office will have to consider supplementing the legal qualifications

The content of the recordings obtained by tvn24.pl was commented on by senator of the Civic Coalition, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.

– Until now, looking at what was happening with the Justice Fund, I was convinced that we were dealing with an abuse of powers, a failure to fulfill obligations, fraud, and untruths. After reviewing today's tapes, I am convinced that we may have a legal qualification related to participation in an organized criminal group – said Kwiatkowski.

He pointed out that a feature of participation in an organized criminal group “is that such people establish a common method of conduct, behavior and specific actions to be performed after committing a crime and covering up the traces.”

– This whole conversation related to cleaning e-mail boxes, with the analysis, to which it will be possible to return, even after the classic deletion of a given information, convinces me that today the prosecutor's office will have to consider supplementing the legal qualification, also with participation in an organized criminal group – added the politician .

Kwiatkowski: we were dealing with a crime here

Kwiatkowski also referred to a fragment of the recordings in which former subordinates instruct Romanowski on what to say and how to say it, what “not to remember” and how to “turn the tables.”

– Prosecutors in such situations often say that from their point of view, those conducting the proceedings and those who have to determine the truth, the answer “I don't remember” is the most difficult. Because it does not expose such a person to the fact that when confronted with new facts, the prosecutor would be able to tell him that he lied – explained Kwiatkowski.

He assessed that in this sense, in terms of minimizing the likelihood of charges being brought against them, Romanowski and his entourage were behaving “rationally.” – I know it sounds paradoxical, but they actually behave rationally. It's a pity that this is rationality in a very bad case. Because after those who were supposed to use this money were robbed (…), I have no doubt that we were dealing with a crime here – he added.

Kwiatkowski: dialogue from a film that tells the story of the Sicilian mafia

Kwiatkowski, referring to fragments of the conversation about “it's best not to remember”, said that “this dialogue is a bit reminiscent of a dialogue from a film that tells the story of the Sicilian mafia.” – We have already finished analyzing whether there could have been a clerical error. Today we are at a completely different stage. We are dealing with a conversation between people who consciously, because it is clear from earlier tapes, made decisions (…). These are now dialogues like those of the perpetrators of a crime, aware that they have committed the crime, and who today are at the stage of minimizing possibility of bringing charges against them – said the TVN24 guest
