At least 20 people have died in and around Kabul airport in the past seven days as they tried to get out of the Taliban-captured capital, a NATO official wishing to remain anonymous said.
“We are focusing on evacuating foreigners as soon as possible,” the official told Reuters.
According to the AP agency, among people gathered near the airport in Kabul who are trying to get out of Afghanistan, panic outbreaks occur, especially when the Taliban are firing into the air to disperse the crowd.
The British defense ministry said on Sunday that the conditions on the ground were “extremely difficult”. “We are doing everything we can to deal with the situation in the safest and most reliable way possible,” she said.
Since the Taliban capture of Kabul on August 15, at an airport in the Afghan capital, chaos reigns. Thousands of people who want to leave the country flock to and around the airport.
