Kalisz. A five-month-old boy is dead. The parents heard the charges

The parents admitted to failing to take care of their five-month-old son, as a result of which the child died. – They heard the charges – Maciej Meler, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski, said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday after 13 in one of the apartments in the estate. View in Kalisz. An ambulance was called to a blue five-month-old baby. The doctor who arrived at the scene pronounced the child dead. Police officers, a prosecutor and a forensic doctor arrived at the scene. The criminal investigators finished their activities only after 19. Then the police took the child’s parents out of the apartment.

There were no visible injuries

Prosecutor Maciej Meler said that a preliminary examination of the child’s body was carried out and medical data regarding his health were collected. Initially, there were no visible injuries that would allow for a clear determination of the cause of death. Therefore, in order to determine the mechanism of the infant’s death, a forensic medical autopsy was ordered, which took place on Monday. – Preliminary findings did not indicate that third parties contributed to the child’s death, but further histopathological tests were ordered to determine the direct cause of death – the prosecutor said on Monday.

The parents were drunk

After the hearing, the child’s parents heard the charges. As Meler said, a 43-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were accused of being responsible for the care of a minor, exposing him to a direct threat of loss of life.

– Being in a state of significant intoxication – in one case over 2 per mille in the body – they did not maintain proper care, which in turn made it impossible to take an appropriate response when the minor lost his vital functions, which resulted in his death – said Meler.

Both parents pleaded guilty to the charges against them and were placed under police supervision. The proceedings are at a preliminary stage.
