The police in Kalisz (Greater Poland Voivodeship) charged a 59-year-old man who wanted to get vaccinated against COVID-19 for the third time. Officers investigate what was driving him and look for the person who the patient said he was.
Aspirant Anna Jaworska-Wojnicz from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Kalisz informed that the charge was a consequence of an incident that took place at the beginning of June in a hospital in Sokołówka (Kalisz poviat). It was then that, following a report from medical staff, the police intervened there.
The employees of the facility then informed that a resident of the Śrem County, who came to a hospital 110 km away, had visited them to accost against COVID-19. The vaccination coordinator in Sokołówka, on behalf of the Kalisz County Office, Wioletta Przybylska then told the media that she had paid special attention to the man. Her suspicions were raised by the fact that he looked older than it appeared from the data provided in the form.
He claimed to be 23 years younger
– I asked him for an ID card to verify the data. Then he said he left the papers in the car. Later, he explained that he forgot to take them from home. He was also unable to provide the PESEL number of the person entered in the document, Przybylska said. It was then that the staff at the vaccination center decided to call the police.
– He tried to talk us out of it, claiming he was a doctor and wanted a third dose. In our opinion, as a doctor, he could have received it in a different way – said the coordinator. It turned out that the man was in fact 59 years old, and the documents needed for vaccination contained the data of a man born in 1985, i.e. 23 years younger.
They are looking for the person who the patient claims to be
The police are now trying to determine the whereabouts of the man who the 59-year-old said he was. – This is a person from outside the area of operation of the Kalisz police. For now, it has turned out that he is not at the address indicated and the policemen have not yet managed to track the man, informed Jaworska-Wojnicz. The police are also waiting for an expert opinion in the field of graphology.
The 59-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
