At an unguarded railway crossing in Kałuże in the Łódź Voivodeship, a passing train hit a passenger car. The 77-year-old driver of the car died – said Staff Aspirant Katarzyna Grela, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Wieluń.
Staff midshipman Grela reported that the accident occurred around 8:10 p.m. at an unguarded railway crossing in the town of Kałuże, in the Pątnów commune in the Łódź Voivodeship.
– According to the officers' preliminary findings, the driver of a Volkswagen LT car hit a passing train on the Tarnowskie Góry-Wieluń Dąbrowa route at an unguarded railway crossing. Unfortunately, despite medical assistance, the 77-year-old car driver died. – she added.
Staff aspirant Maciej Dura, press officer of the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wieluń, said that after the arrival of the first fire brigades, the car was in the railway chute. The driver was driving alone and the incident occurred on a county road.
