The accident happened on Tuesday at the intersection of Mickiewicza and Piłsudskiego streets in Karczew, in the Otwock poviat. A 39-year-old skoda driver ran down a woman who was correctly moving on a bicycle road. A helicopter of the Polish Medical Air Rescue was landing on the spot, taking the victim to the hospital.
As determined by the policemen operating on the spot, the Skoda driver was driving the vehicle under the influence of intoxicants. He has been stopped.
The driver was previously punished
On Thursday, the man heard the allegation. – The drivers were charged under article 177, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with article 178. An application for pre-trial detention was filed with the court, informed us by prosecutor Katarzyna Skrzeczkowska, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office for Warsaw-Praga. The court is likely to consider this request on Thursday.
We also asked the prosecutor’s office about the condition of the victim in the case of a woman. – It is fixed all the time. We’ll find out what the final damage will be in some time. So far, the condition of the injured person is not serious and there is no real threat to her life, hence the driver has been charged under article 177, paragraph 1 – said Skrzeczkowska. The first paragraph of the cited article refers to causing moderate or slight damage to health, while the second – to serious damage or death.
Prosecutor Skrzeczkowska also informed that the 39-year-old had already been punished for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
