GOPR Karkonosze and the Czech Horská service Krkonoše set out to help a tourist who got lost near Czarna Kopa. He was found after a few hours. There is a storm in the mountains, with winds exceeding 150 km/h and a snowstorm.
According to GOPR Karkonosze, on Thursday, December 21, around 4:15 p.m., the rescuer on duty received a report of a man who was stuck near Czarna Kopa due to difficult weather conditions.
A strong wind was blowing from Śnieżka, so the Czech Horská service Krkonoše was involved in the search operation. Rescuers reached the tourist at 6:30 p.m. from the Czech side. The action ended at 10 p.m. – informs Piotr Zamorski, head of the Karkonosze GOPR group.
A tourist got lost in the Karkonosze Mountains
As GOPR adds, the tourist got lost due to bad weather conditions and left the trail. The 34-year-old man was in a hard-to-reach place and was hypothermic.
There is a gale in the mountains, with winds exceeding 150 km/h and a snowstorm. There is a second degree of avalanche danger in the Karkonosze Mountains.
