– I don't know why Chairman Włodzimierz Czarzasty said it this way, because such a decision was absolutely not made – said Katarzyna Kotula, Minister of Equality, in “Kropka nad i”. She referred to the statement of the co-leader of the New Left that the law on civil partnerships – on which coalition talks are ongoing – “does not include the adoption of children by homosexual couples.”

Minister for Equality Katarzyna Kotula (New LeftLeft Club) spoke to “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 about the law on civil partnerships, on which talks are underway within the ruling coalition.

She was asked about the words of the co-chair of the New Left Włodzimierz Czarzasty from Monday's “Dot the i”. He stated that “this project has already been written and is ready.” – In this project, as far as I know, There is no adoption of children by homosexual couples – said Czarzasty.

Kotula said that a meeting with community organizations was also held on Monday LGBT, which provides details of the proposed regulations. She quoted from a document she took out of her briefcase. – It is assumed that the proposed act will define the rules for concluding and establishing a partnership, mutual rights and obligations of persons in civil partnerships, property relations between persons in civil partnerships and the situation of children raised by persons in civil partnerships – she announced.

The minister emphasized that “this is what is on the table today in this project.” – This is what I have directed to the list of legislative works. I am the Minister for Equality, I am the one who negotiates, talks, I am the one who signs the documents, I am the one who sends the documents to the list of legislative works. And this record about the situation of children raised by people in civil partnerships can be found here – she pointed out.

– I don't know why Mr. Czarzasta talked about it this way, because such a decision was absolutely not made – argued Kotula. And she added: – I don't know why such a declaration was made, I'm just showing you what we have planned for work.

She assured that “we informed the entire Left club, all MPs, about what is in the assumptions of this project and what is included in this project.” – No decision to quit anything has been made yet – she added.

“There is a lot of opposition to including adoption in the project”

Kotula – who held talks on Thursday with the Polish People's Party and its president, deputy prime minister and head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz about the bill – revealed on TVN24 that among the peasant party “there is great opposition to including adoption in this project.”

– We also talk about other details, because Polish People's Party says clearly today: they want there to be a distinction between marriages and they would like the scope for civil partnerships not to be as wide as marriages, she said.

She said that this concerns issues such as “community of property, inheritance, common surname, the issue of how we will register this partnership.” She assured that “the issues of joint inheritance do not raise any emotions.”

– Social security issues also do not arouse any emotions. We talked about the details. I would like to remind you that the Deputy Prime Minister was once the Minister of Social Policy and Family, so he accepted it with understanding. He said that for him these issues were obvious, Kotula said.

“We cannot talk today that the president will say NO”

What if the president doesn't want to sign the bill? Andrzej Duda?

– We cannot say today that the president will say “no”, because it will probably also depend on the shape of this act – Kotula said. – If the shape of this act is such that it obtains a majority in the Sejm and the Senate, I think that perhaps the president will consider signing this act – she said.

She also said that “there are clear declarations from the president's circle that the president wants to meet with me.” – I will meet with the president, but I honestly think towards the coalition on October 15 that we must first reach an agreement internally – she added.
