A deposit of PLN 91.5 thousand towards a future penalty was imposed on a Dutch carrier who tried to avoid e-TOLL by driving on toll sections of the A4 motorway. The Silesian National Revenue Administration reported that the controlled person committed 61 violations.

National Revenue Administration officers stopped a truck with Dutch registration plates on the A4 motorway in Katowice for inspection. As it turned out, the carrier did not have an active on-board device for paying electronic tolls for toll road sections.

– Data verification using a special system revealed over 500 archival violations requiring further analysis. As a result, the services identified 61 violations suitable for further proceedings conducted by the General Inspectorate of Road Transport – informed Katarzyna Klos from the National Revenue Administration in a press release.

As she added, 61 violations resulted in the collection of a deposit of PLN 91,500 towards a future administrative penalty. The decision-making body in the matter of imposing a financial penalty is the Chief Inspectorate of Road Transport.

– If the entrepreneur reliably paid the tolls for driving on toll road sections, it would cost him about PLN 10,000 – summed up Katarzy Klos.

Customs and Fiscal Service officers are not only responsible for checking transports subject to the SENT Act or checking drivers' working hours. Their tasks also include verifying the correctness of electronic payment of fees for travel on toll road sections. Only Customs and Fiscal Service officers and Road Transport Inspection officers are authorized to perform these checks.
