A 50-year-old man from Gliwice (Silesian Voivodeship) left his five-year-old son in the car at night and went to a disco to party. The crying boy was noticed by passers-by who called the services. The father was charged with endangering a child. He will probably also be charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The incident took place last weekend from Saturday to Sunday. As the police reported on Tuesday, a 50-year-old man from Gliwice and his son came to a disco in Katowice at night. According to the police, when security at the premises did not let the man with the child inside, he took the five-year-old to a car a few streets away and left him in the car. Sam went to the disco to have fun.
A crying five-year-old in the car
Around 2 a.m., two men noticed the crying boy in the car and notified the Katowice police. “The boy told the police that he lives with his mother in Ruda Śląska, and on weekends his father takes care of him. Unfortunately, he left him in the car and does not know where he went. The police called an ambulance to the scene for a doctor to examine the boy. Fortunately, the boy “He was safe and sound and did not require hospitalization,” the Katowice police station said in a statement. “Even though the activities lasted several hours, the child’s father did not appear at the car. The police placed the five-year-old in a children’s home and made contact with the mother, who came in the morning and picked up her son. When the man returned to the car, he drove home without worrying, that his child was not in the car. After a few hours, he was arrested when he came to the police station when called by the police, the police added.
Charges against the father of a five-year-old
The five-year-old’s father was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, he had over the permille of alcohol in his body. His blood was secured for further laboratory tests. He was charged with exposing a child to a direct threat of loss of life or serious bodily harm, despite his duty of care. He faces a sentence of up to five years in prison. “In addition, the police have already notified the family court regarding the issuance of appropriate care orders. Activities are also ongoing to investigate driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol,” the police informed.
