Katowice. Pathostreamers accused of abuse during online broadcasts

The Katowice prosecutor's office has charged two patostreamers who abused young women during online broadcasts. Men will also be responsible for, among others: for distributing a nude image, attempting to cause sexual intercourse and causing bodily harm.

On Friday, Aleksander Duda, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, announced that an indictment against Marcin F. and Bartłomiej K. had been sent to the court. The case will be heard by the District Court in Bytom.

In November 2023, two 18-year-old men, known on the Internet under the pseudonyms “Kawiaq” and “Tucznik”, made reports watched by an audience of several dozen thousand people. During them – as the prosecutor describes – they behaved towards two young women “in a vulgar and obscene manner, expressing both contempt for the applicable rules of social coexistence and the belief in their complete impunity.”

“As a result of their actions, one of the women found herself in a condition that really threatened her life and health as a result of being left without any help and care, after consuming a significant amount of alcohol. The other woman suffered bodily injuries as a result of the defendants' actions, requiring her to be provided with urgent assistance. medical,” recalled Prosecutor Duda.

As the media described, pathostreamers abused a half-naked, drunk girl during a broadcast from one of the apartments in Bytom. They were thrown out of the premises by the owner of the apartment who showed up on the spot. In other material, broadcast the next day from a hotel room in Gliwice, one of them can be seen hitting another young woman with a bottle.

The injured parties were also interviewed and testified in the case. As Duda reported earlier, one of them suffered moderate health damage that required treatment for more than seven days and was a head injury.

After this broadcast, both patostreamers left Poland. Silesian police detained them a few days later when they returned to the country.

They were brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, where they were charged and then arrested. This preventive measure was applied to them throughout the entire investigation.

After the prosecutor's office filed the indictment, the court changed the arrest of both men to other, non-custodial preventive measures. This includes: for police surveillance, a ban on leaving the country, a ban on contacting specific people and a ban on using social media. “The decision is not final, the prosecutor's office will assess its validity,” said prosecutor Duda.

The investigation was conducted by the Criminal Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice under the supervision of the Katowice prosecutor's office. Investigators added that extensive evidence was collected during the proceedings – witnesses were interviewed and opinions of experts in the field of forensic medicine, forensic computer science, psychology and forensic psychiatry were obtained. Materials from two other preparatory proceedings concerning crimes committed by the accused were also included in the investigation – described the spokesman of the prosecutor's office.

Before the court in Bytom, the defendants will be charged with harassment, dissemination of another person's nude image via the Internet without his or her consent, attempting to cause sexual intercourse, causing damage to health, making criminal threats, and insulting a public official. The individual offenses charged against the defendants are punishable by varying amounts of imprisonment – up to 8 years in the case of abusing another person or attempting to cause sexual intercourse.
