The 38-year-old was breaking car windows when he was caught red-handed by police in Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Opole Voivodeship). He had a hammer, steel balls for the slingshot and the slingshot itself. He had been destroying cars and shop windows in one of the housing estates for several weeks. As he admitted to the police, it was his reaction to heartbreak.

Since February, someone has been puncturing car tires, breaking windows, destroying mirrors, and even window displays and door locks in one of the housing estates in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The victims reported the matter to the police. They estimated their losses at over PLN 6,000.

The officers noticed that the damage occurred in a specific area. The police suspected that one person was behind all the acts of vandalism, so they prepared an ambush.

– A resident of Kędzierzyn-Koźle was caught red-handed. He was arrested by criminals at night when he was breaking windows in parked cars with a hammer. The police seized the tools he used to destroy property. These include a hammer, metal balls for the slingshot and the slingshot itself – informs the Opole police.

The vandal pleaded guilty

The detained person was taken to police custody. The collected evidence allowed him to be charged with destruction of property. The man confessed to them. As he explained, the reason for his behavior was heartbreak. Now the 38-year-old will appear in court. He faces imprisonment from 3 months to 5 years.
