Taraji P. Henson is talking her reality.
And her fellow actresses are praising her for it. The Empire star not too long ago turned emotional throughout an interview through which she described the pay inequality she’s skilled as a Black actress in Hollywood.
“I am simply uninterested in working so arduous, being gracious at what I do, getting paid a fraction of the fee,” Taraji said in an interview with Gayle King for SiriusXM. “I am uninterested in listening to my sisters say the identical factor again and again. I hear individuals say, ‘You’re employed quite a bit.’ Effectively, I’ve to, the mathematics ain’t mathing.”
The Oscar Nominee continued, “I am solely human and it appears each time I do one thing, and I break one other glass ceiling, when it is time to renegotiate I am on the backside once more. Like I by no means did what I simply did.”
It is a sentiment that a lot of her fellow Hollywood stars are echoing.
“Not a rattling lie informed. Not. A. Rattling. Lie,” Gabrielle Union wrote alongside the clip on X, previously often known as Twitter. “We go TO BAT for the subsequent technology and hell even our personal technology and above. We do not hesitate to be the change that all of us have to see AND it takes a toll in your thoughts, well being, soul, and profession if we’re keepn it.”
