Gray Sloan Memorial is down one other large physician.

Following Ellen Pompeo‘s exit from Grey’s Anatomy last month, one other longtime forged member is scrubbing out. Kelly McCreary, who has performed Maggie Pierce on the sequence for 9 seasons, introduced her departure from the ABC medical drama on March 17.

“After 9 seasons, I’m saying goodbye to Maggie Pierce and her Gray Sloan household,” the actress stated in an announcement to E!. “It has been an incredible honor to be part of such a legendary tv establishment as Gray’s Anatomy. I’ll at all times be grateful to Shonda Rhimes, Krista Vernoff, and ABC for the chance, and to the unbelievable followers for his or her passionate help.”

The daughter of Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and Meredith’s (Pompeo) mom Ellis Gray (Kate Burton), Maggie held the title of head of cardiothoracic surgical procedure at Gray Sloan all through her run on the present.

“To spend 9 years exploring a personality in and out, whereas reaching a world viewers with impactful tales, is a uncommon present,” the 41-year-old continued. “It has afforded me a chance to collaborate with, be taught from, and be impressed by numerous good artists each in entrance of and behind the digital camera.”
