There was a tragedy at the railway station in Kępno (Greater Poland). A 69-year-old resident of the Lubuskie Province, while trying to get off, fell under a train. The man was killed instantly.
The tragic event took place around 11 o’clock. Preliminary testimonies of witnesses show that a 69-year-old resident of the Lubuskie voivodeship tried to get off the train when it left the station – said the press spokesman of the Kępno police, Sgt. Rafał Stramowski.
– The man fell between the train and the track and was dragged under the train for several dozen meters. The man died as a result of the injuries, the spokesman said. As he noted, the driver did not realize that a tragic event had taken place.
The Szczecin-Kraków train has been stopped in Łęka Opatowska, 80 passengers are waiting for the driver to be replaced.
The railway line to Krakow has been closed, so there will be delays in train journeys.
Police officers are working on site under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
