Over one hundred and fifty people staying at the Border Guard Training Center in Kętrzyn had symptoms of food poisoning. A total of 47 people went to the hospital. The life of officers is not threatened by danger. Sanepid determines what could be the source of Salmonella, which caused poisoning.
Symptoms of food poisoning with different severity occurred last Tuesday at 153 listeners of the Border Guard Training Center in Kętrzyn.
These were diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and increased body temperature.
There are currently 47 people in the hospital
On Thursday (April 10), the number of people who found themselves in hospitals due to the symptoms of food poisoning increased to 47.
Initially, SG reported that 13 people were hospitalized, on Thursday morning she reported that this number increased to 27 people. In the late afternoon, a spokeswoman for the Warmian-Masurian branch of the SG, Major Mirosław Aleksandrowicz announced that one person was already discharged, but another 21 people were transported to the hospitals during the day.
“Currently, 47 people stay in hospitals, among others in Giżycko, Pisz, Ostróda and Elbląg,” she concluded.
She noted that medical staff are still in the place in the SG Training Center in Kętrzyn, and in case of worse well -being of one of the listeners qualifies him to the hospital.
Aleksandrowicz pointed out that the life of officers is not in danger. She also reported that on Thursday – like the day before – program classes at the SG Training Center in Kętrzyn are suspended.
Salmonella bacterium was found

Unofficially: they ate meals at the nutrition point at the command
According to unofficial information, listeners who had symptoms of food poisoning ate meals at the nutrition point at the SG Department Headquarters.
As the SG previously reported, immediately after notification of the management by over 150 listeners of symptoms resembling food poisoning, the event was notified of the Minister of the Interior and Administration, who directed the Voivode of Warmian-Masurian and Sanepid. The Chief Commander of the SG was also informed.
Voivode Radosław Król also appointed a crisis team on Tuesday. In the opinion of the voivode, “thanks to the fast and coordinated reaction of medical and sanitary services and government administration, the situation was controlled and the course of the reaction remained under full control.”
The case is dealt with by the police
The Police will clarify the issue of collective food poisoning in the Kętrzyn SG Training Center. Notification of suspected committing a crime under Art. 160 of the Penal Code (i.e. human exposure to the direct danger of losing his life or severe damage to health) was submitted by a SG representative on Wednesday.
The Border Guard Training Center is one of the three training centers of this formation, next to the University of SG in Koszalin and the SG Specialist Training Center in Lubań. He leads, among others Training at all levels – from basic, through the training of NCO and Chorążych, to appointment to the first officer's degree, as well as vocational improvement in the form of specialist training and courses. Currently, about 300 officers are trained there.
