The police detained a 24-year-old suspected of extorting benefits from insurance companies. According to the investigators, the detainee was to have participated in over 40 collisions within four years. At that time, the man extorted PLN 170,000.
The 24-year-old is suspected of fraud and extortion of a total of 170,000. zlotys. These are compensations from various insurance companies for road incidents in which the driver was involved. – The uniform found out that the 24-year-old is unlucky with traveling around Kielce and often participates in collisions – reports Karol Macek, the press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Kielce.
Investigators found that the man had been involved in 43 collisions in the city in the last four years, as a result of which he received compensation.
“He had different ways to force events”
– The criminals had doubts as to whether all these events were a coincidence and decided to check it. The police found that the man had various ways of forcing the incident, for example, he incorrectly signaled a change of direction or accelerated to cause a collision of vehicles. He used several vehicles for this practice – said Macek.
The 24-year-old was detained by officers of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Kielce in the Skarżysko district. The man heard accusations of fraud and causing an event giving rise to the payment of insurance compensation. By the decision of the prosecutor, he was placed under supervision, has to pay a bail and is forbidden to leave the country.
He faces up to eight years in prison.
