Kielce. Sentence for a driver who entered the promenade

A sentence was passed in the case of a driver who drove onto the Kielce promenade and traveled several hundred meters, then struck a lantern. Adrian K. will be imprisoned, he must also pay 15,000 zlotys in return.

The verdict was handed down in the district court in Kielce on Friday. Adrian K. was facing up to five years in prison, he was sentenced to two. The court also ruled against him a ten-year driving ban, and ordered him to pay 15,000. PLN interest and benefits for the Victims’ Aid Fund and Post-penitentiary Assistance and PLN 1,200 in court costs.

Pedestrians hid in the gates

The incident took place on Saturday night, August 1, last year at Sienkiewicza Street. Adrian K. having 2.7 per mille of alcohol in the body, he drove his car onto the pedestrian zone in Kielce. Speeding up to about 80 km / h, he covered several hundred meters. The pedestrians, seeing the speeding car, ran away from the street and hid in the gates of tenement houses.

Eventually, the man lost control of the vehicle and caused a collision by hitting the lantern. The 21-year-old suffered minor injuries. Apart from him, no one was hurt. The perpetrator was apprehended by a patrol of the municipal police, which was passing nearby.

The prosecutor’s office accused Adrian K. of driving a car while drunk and of bringing the immediate danger of a crash in land traffic. Adrian K. did not have the license to drive a car. Previously, he had already been sentenced in another case to a suspended prison sentence.

The prosecutor’s office demanded a penalty of two years and three months of absolute imprisonment and a 10-year ban on driving.
