Two 16-year-olds will be sued in a family court for the theft of a Fiat 126p. The teenagers’ ride ended in a car crash. The car belonged to an elderly woman who left the toddler in front of the house with the keys in the ignition switch.
Policemen from Łowicz (Łódź Voivodeship) received a report of the theft of the vehicle in Kiernozi.
– According to the report of the injured senior woman, she left the Fiat 126p – with the keys in the ignition switch – in front of the property and only realized that the vehicle was stolen the next day – explains commander Urszula Szymczak, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Łowicz.
Monitoring helped track teenagers
The police began searching for the perpetrator by reviewing the recording from the surveillance camera. – They established that two young men who were interested in the open car and stole it were passing by the property – explains Szymczak.
They were tracked down and detained by the police. They are two 16-year-old inhabitants of the Łowicz poviat. On the same day, the stolen toddler was recovered. – The teenagers explained that they noticed the keys in an open car and decided to take a ride. That’s why they took the car. Unfortunately, on a dirt road, they drove into a ditch and left the Fiat there – says Szymczak.
Now 16-year-olds will answer for their actions before the juvenile court, which will decide their fate.
