The flood destroyed the orphanage in Kłodzko. Now the decision has been made to rebuild the facility, but in a safe place. The Congress of Women, among others, helps in collecting for this purpose.

The losses incurred by the facility in the flood are estimated at PLN 5 million. Now the district authorities have decided not to renovate the flooded building. Instead, they will build a new one, outside the so-called red zone, i.e. the area most at risk of flooding.

– We decided to help this facility so that it could be rebuilt. The children are waiting for a new home. It's Christmas time, we would like these children to receive the most important and beautiful gift, which is a sense of security – says Natalia Gołąb, member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

Up to 20 million are needed

28 children live in the Kłodzko children's home. Everyone was evacuated before the peak wave arrived. Now some of them are in a guesthouse, some are temporarily staying with relatives.

– They currently live in Duszniki, and the daily commute to school is very tiring and troublesome for the children. That's why we really want the children to return to Kłodzko as soon as possible, emphasizes Monika Kotuła, director of the facility.

The district authorities estimate that the new facility may cost up to PLN 20 million. That is why they are asking entrepreneurs and entities willing to help with reconstruction to contact us. The Women's Congress also started collecting for this purpose.
