In Kmiecin (Pomeranian Voivodeship), where the S7 route has been blocked for almost three weeks, on Friday at noon there was a road accident involving a police car and a truck. A policewoman was injured. The officer was taken to hospital.

For nearly three weeks, farmers in Kmiecin near Nowy Dwór Gdański (Pomeranian Voivodeship) have been blocking a road junction on the national road no. 7. For several days, to show good will, they have not blocked it completely. One lane remains open in each direction. They emphasize that they cannot block the road for days because the first work is waiting to be done in the fields.

On Friday at noon, approximately 600 meters from the farmers’ blockade on S7, there was a road accident involving a police car and a truck. As explained by the spokeswoman of the Pomeranian Police, Kom. Karina Kamińska, a 65-year-old driver of a truck with a semi-trailer hit the side of a police car, marked and with lights on.

– The police car was on the emergency lane and entered the buffer zone in which vehicles must slow down to a speed of 90 km/h and change lanes due to the farmers’ protest taking place there – the policewoman said.

As informed by junior asp. Karolina Figiel, spokeswoman for the police in Nowy Dwór Gdański, the truck driver was sober.

Police officers are currently working at the scene of the accident.

– The road at the site of the incident has already been reopened. Traffic towards Gdańsk is on one lane, she said.

A policewoman was injured as a result of the incident. The officer was taken to hospital.

Farmers will meet Donald Tusk

Tomorrow, farmers from Kmiecin will be in Warsaw to meet with Donald Tusk, who – as he announced – will have something to communicate to them regarding the Green Deal. Some of them are going there today to meet other farmers and establish a common strategy with them.

– We don’t know what will happen. From these announcements, from the press conferences of the Prime Minister and the Minister, it does not look good. (…) The Green Deal in this form is unacceptable. This is not possible – says farmer Andrzej Sobociński from the Pomeranian Chamber of Agriculture.

He adds that another equally important issue for farmers is the issue of Ukrainian grain and the removal of surpluses.

The farmers’ protest on S7 was planned until March 10. However, they emphasize that if an agreement cannot be reached with the Prime Minister, the protest will have to be resumed.
