Citizen's capture of a drunk driver
As reported in a statement by Sergeant Krzysztof Bernat from the press team of the Końskie police, the driver of a truck weighing several tons was performing dangerous maneuvers in the station parking lot. Officers published a recording of one of the situations in which the truck drove straight into another car.
Seeing his behavior, two other drivers stopped him from driving and then called 911. According to their accounts, they had to flee in their vehicles for fear of a collision.
“When the officers intervened, the man was convinced that he had crossed the Slovak border and that the intervening police officers were Slovak officers. Thanks to the proper reaction of the witnesses, a tragedy was avoided. The officers detained the man and he was taken to police custody,” Krzysztof Bernat said.
The 57-year-old driver of the truck, a Polish citizen, will be brought to court. Driving while intoxicated is punishable by up to three years in prison, a driving ban and financial consequences.
