According to the press office of PKP PLK, over PLN 28 million has been allocated to renovation works of the railway line 25 from the state budget. Travelers will use the renovated platforms at the following stations and stops: Skarżysko Milica, Bliżyn, Stąporków, Końskie and Opoczno.

“Safe accesses have been prepared at the level of rails, accessible to people with reduced mobility. The platforms are lit and equipped with shelters and benches. Legible signage and information boards with timetables are provided. Bicycle stands have been set up for cyclists” – informed.

Railway connection with Konskie restored

Krzysztof Obratański, the mayor of Końskie, is pleased with the restoration of the railway connection. The local government official noted that the lack of passenger traffic “was one of the reasons for the discomfort and exclusion of the inhabitants of Końskie”.

– The fact that the passenger railway has disappeared from our lives since 2009 was, in the opinion of a large part of the inhabitants, proof that the Polish province, that we are in the second category, in terms of the interest of state and railway administration. For this reason, the return of the railway is welcomed with great satisfaction, said Mayor Obratański.

He stressed that “there is no lack of fear” whether passengers will decide to use the rail again after such a long absence.

– I think it will take some time for the return of the trains to be rewarded with greater interest from passengers. I expect a situation similar to the one when, after years of break, we resumed bus communication in Konskie. The first months of operation confirmed the fears that there may be little interest that people have adapted to the lack of public transport – he said.

– Passenger transport initially found a large empty space at stops, but it was also related to the epidemic period. However, the summary for the last ten months shows that about 150,000 people traveled in total in Konskie. It took only about a year for this communication to revive. I am afraid that in the case of railways, it will also take a long time before people find out that the train is a convenient way to get to Skarżysko, Opoczno, Tomaszów or Łódź, or further places for which individual stops will only be a transfer point – he added.

Revitalization of the railway line No. 25

As part of the revitalization of railway line 25, the following stops were also changed: Brzask, Gilów, Sołtyków, Wólka Plebańska, Czarniecka Góra, Kornica, Wąsosz Konecki, Ruda Białaczowska, Petrykozy, Sitowa, Słomianka, Szadkowice, Bratków, Jeleń, where new shelters, benches and information display cases.

“In order for passengers to board trains safely, new lighting was prepared and the surface of the platforms was improved” – the PKP PLK press office informed.

The task also included spot repair of tracks and replacement of two turnouts. The surface at the rail-road intersections in Bliżyn and Końskie has been improved.

For the last 12 years, only freight traffic has been conducted on the Skarżysko-Kamienna – Opoczno route.

The train timetable has changed since Sunday throughout the country. Information on the current train timetable is available at stations and stops, on the Internet at portalpasazera.pl and in the Passenger Portal mobile applications. At stations and stops, information about train departures and arrivals is available on posters. Before traveling, check the departure time of the train.
