On Wednesday morning, a fire broke out in the historic palace in Korczewo, in the Siedlce poviat. 200 firefighters are involved in the rescue of valuable documents and furniture.
As he told us just before 9 o’clock, young brig. Paweł Kulicki from the fire brigade in Siedlce, at 6 am, when the firefighters arrived, the entire roof of the palace was already on fire. – Unfortunately, there were wooden ceilings between the attic and the utility storeys, which mostly burned out. Therefore, the fire spread to the usable part of the building. This is a major damage also resulting from the actions of firefighters. There were high water currents, the fireman said.
However, he stressed that the fire was already contained. – We are currently evacuating property. It is a mass of antique documents, furniture and paintings. They are evacuated to a safe place. Much of the property was saved. There are no injured people. We will proceed to the next phase, which is extinguishing the fire – said Kulicki.
He noted that the action will continue for a few more hours. – There are several dozen teams working on the site, about 40. This is an estimated 200 firefighters – Kulicki calculated.
