Korczowa, Podkarpacie. A young Ukrainian truck driver died at the border. “He said he didn’t feel well”

A truck driver who felt unwell on the Ukrainian-Polish border while waiting for customs clearance in Korczowa (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) has died. The man was taken to a hospital in Przemyśl, where he died. He is a 38-year-old Ukrainian.

According to the press officer of the Jarosław police, Staff Aspirant Anna Długosz, the incident took place on Saturday (December 16) around 1 p.m. The man arrived on Saturday and registered in the queue of truck drivers waiting at the highway MOP in Hruszowice for customs clearance in Korczowa.

– The man approached an officer of the Road Transport Inspectorate and said that he felt bad. He asked to call an ambulance, the policewoman said.

She added that the man was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Przemyśl, where he died.

Waiting for check-in

On Saturday, before the crossing in Korczowa, 750 trucks were registered for check-in. Cars waiting to cross the border include: at motorway MOPs in Hruszowice – 310 cars, Młyny – 290 and on dk 94, where 150 vehicles are waiting in a 4-kilometer queue on the roadside.

According to the services, the estimated waiting time for truck drivers to cross the border in Medyka on Saturday is 91 hours, or less than four days. This is a few hours shorter than the time you had to wait on Friday and a day shorter than the time you had to wait last week.

In turn, at the Krościenko crossing, where customs clearance for vehicles with a total permissible weight not exceeding 7.5 tons has been allowed on a pilot basis, trucks have to wait 18 hours for customs clearance.

At other crossings, check-ins are conducted on an ongoing basis. Only coaches at the Korczowa crossing have to wait 1 hour for check-in
