Thanks to information from the Bieszczady Border Guard Division, the police of France and Slovakia recovered cars that had been misappropriated to the detriment of a Polish car rental and leasing company.
– Very often, the actions concern vehicles misappropriated to the detriment of leasing and car rental companies. These are mainly new, luxury models of high value – indicates the spokesman of the Bieszczady Border Guard Division, Lt. Piotr Zakielarz.
He mentioned that after receiving information from officers from BiOSG, the cars were already recovered by uniformed officers, including from Spain, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungarian and from Romania.
They recovered stolen cars
This time, border guards from Podkarpacie contributed to the recovery of cars sought by the French and Slovak police.
One of them was a luxury Mercedes GLC (produced in 2024) recovered last Thursday in Marseille, France. France. Information to the local services about the location where the car could be lost to the detriment of the Polish car rental company was provided by officers of the Operational and Investigative Department of BiOSG.
“The reaction of the French police was immediate. The car, worth PLN 395,000, was located at the indicated location. The officers secured the vehicle and are conducting further actions in this case,” the BiOSG spokesman said.
The very next day, as a result of coordinated actions and information provided by officers of the same BiOSG department and police officers from the KSP in Warsaw, the Slovak police from Bratislava stopped a BMW 318i (produced in 2022). It turned out that the car, with an estimated value of PLN 170,000, had been misappropriated to the detriment of a Polish leasing company.
Another Mercedes was recovered by border guards from Podkarpacie on the same day during a border control of a 47-year-old citizen leaving Poland through the Korczowa border crossing. Ukraine. The man was traveling in a Mercedes model ML 250 CDI with Ukrainian registration plates.
“During the inspection, Border Guard officers became suspicious about the legality of the car's origin. They determined that the body numbers and, among other things, the nameplate showed signs of tampering,” said Lt. Zakielarz.
He added that a car with an estimated value of PLN 70,000 was seized. The officers are conducting further actions in this case.
