A man was hit by a train near Sochaczew. 350 passengers were evacuated to another train, where they could continue their journey.

The incident occurred in the town of Kornelin, approximately 400 meters from the station.

Information about the incident was provided on the website portalpasazera.pl. “Accident involving a person and train 25100/1 (PKP INTERCITY Spółka Akcyjna) on the Chełm – Bydgoszcz Główna route. Train delays of about 15 minutes may occur. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the railway workers reported.

Evacuation of 350 people

– The train hit one person. He is under the train, with no signs of life. (Rescue) activities were abandoned due to the injuries – Senior Captain Milena Bulwan from the Sochaczew fire department told us.

Firefighters secured the scene and helped passengers get to the second train. – The terrain there is difficult, firefighters are helping passengers get to the train. There were about 350 people on board – Bulwan added.

The police received a report of the incident at 5:20 p.m. – A man of unknown identity was fatally hit by a passenger train traveling from Sochaczew towards Łowicz – informed Senior Asp. Agnieszka Dzik from the District Police Headquarters in Sochaczew.

The police secured the scene of the incident and carried out their activities under the supervision of the prosecutor.

Train traffic was alternating.

Intercity has announced that tickets will be accepted on the following trains: KM no. 93108/9 MAZOVIA on the Siedlce – Płock route on the Sochaczew – Kutno section; EIC No. 40 (17010/1) BERLIN WARSAW EXPRESS on the route Warsaw East – Berlin Gesundbrunnen on the Sochaczew – Kutno section; PR No. 15211 Kutno – Bydgoszcz Main route

“Additionally, it was agreed until further notice that tickets of PKP Intercity SA and Koleje Mazowieckie will be mutually honoured on the Warsaw-Kutno-Warsaw section,” the release reads.
