A 67-year-old woman died after being hit by a train. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Kościerzyna near Strzelnica. Everything indicates that the driver was not to blame.
A fatal accident occurred on Tuesday, around 5 p.m., on the tracks near the Shooting Range in Kościerzyna. “According to initial findings, a 67-year-old resident of Kościerzyna County was crossing the tracks in a prohibited place and was hit by a Kościerzyna-Chojnice train,” said Senior Warrant Officer Piotr Kwidzyński, spokesman for the Kościerzyna County Police Headquarters.
Despite the driver's immediate reaction, tragedy could not be avoided.
In addition to the fire department and police, representatives of the Polish State Railways also arrived at the scene. The police officers inspected the scene and questioned witnesses. They also checked the sobriety of the driver – the man was sober. All these activities were performed under the supervision of the prosecutor.
