Marian Tokarski, former starost of Biłgoraj, activist of the Polish People's Party, died from injuries sustained in a road accident. He was 75 years old. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on social media that Tokarski was “devoted to his small homeland, ready to help anyone who needs it.”
The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon on the Majdan Nowy-Markowicze road in the Lublin province. According to the police, Marian Tokarski died from injuries sustained after his car collided head-on with another.
Kosiniak-Kamysz: Tokarski was devoted to his small homeland
MP Wiesław Różyński, president of the PSL district board in Biłgoraj, confirmed that long-time PSL activist and former Biłgoraj starost Marian Tokarski died in the accident.
As he emphasized, Tokarski was very involved in the local community. – He was associated with the folk movement since his youth. He held various positions in the PSL, including the chairman of the PSL district board. He was a good man, hard-working, modest, and demanded a lot from himself – said Różyński.
The president of the Polish People's Party, deputy prime minister, and head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, emphasized on Sunday afternoon on Platform X that Tokarski was “devoted to his small homeland, ready to help anyone who needs it.” “I offer my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones,” he wrote.
Who was Marian Tokarski?
Marian Tokarski was the starosta of Biłgoraj in the years 2010-2016. In 2017 he received the title of Honorary Citizen of Biłgoraj. He started working at the Biłgoraj County Office in 1999 as the head of the Organizational Department and later a member of the County Board. From 1995 he was the head of the District Office in Biłgoraj.
Tokarski was an activist of the Polish People's Party, as was his wife, Genowefa Tokarska, who was the governor of Lublin in 2007-2011 and then a member of the Sejm of the 7th and 8th term.
