The Public Transport Authority in Krakow is warning against a new form of fraud. Accounts and websites have appeared on the internet pretending to be the Krakow Card and tempting people with free public transport after filling out a survey.
The offer sounds attractive, although not very credible – for filling out a survey on the functioning of Krakow public transport, “anniversary” Krakow Cards were to be issued, entitling you to use buses and trams for six months without recharging. The information that there are only 500 special cards encourages you to make rash moves. However, a look at the provided link definitely dispels any doubts – the address has nothing to do with Krakow or public transport.
“The Public Transport Authority informs that it does not give away free tickets for six months. We appeal not to click on the links. Each time someone sees such a post, they are asked to report it using the 'Report post' function,” we read in the city office's announcement. Such action brings results, posts offering “anniversary cards” are removed by Facebook. However, there is still a website with a survey.
We asked the Krakow police what exactly this fraud is and whether any actions are being taken in this case; we are waiting for an answer.
The Krakow Card is available to people settling taxes in Krakow and entitles them, among other things, to purchase network tickets at a lower price and to use discounts from program partners.
