The Kraków5020 company was established at the beginning of 2022, pursuant to a resolution of the city council. It was separated from the city Krakow Festival Office (KBF). It was appointed to manage, among others, ICE Kraków Congress Center, Wyspiański Pavilion and InfoKraków tourist information points. Controversy aroused primarily the transfers of funds from the city budget for its activities, high operating costs, and the creation and operation of the Hello Kraków News television. The prosecutor's office is checking whether the company did not expose the Kraków commune to property damage of at least PLN 20 million.
“The implemented model of promoting the City did not meet the expectations placed in it, which was noticed by the project initiator. Reservations regarding the model of entrusted tasks were raised by councilors and the inhabitants of Krakow themselves,” we read in the justification of the presidential draft resolution expressing the councilors' consent to the dissolution of the company.
According to the plan presented on Wednesday by the deputy mayor of Krakow, Łukasz Sęk, the task of managing the ICE Krakow Congress Center will be taken over by the Krakow City Development Agency. As for the InfoKraków tourist information network, three such points will be operating from January: in the Wyspiański Pavilion, at ul. Saint Jana and Szpitalna. Discussions are ongoing regarding the operation of the point on the estate. Consent. On April 1, the tourist information network is to be taken over by the Association of the Tourist Organization of the Royal Capital City of Krakow.
As far as employee matters are concerned, the Krakow City Development Agency will recruit employees to operate the ICE Congress Center – it is planned to employ at least approximately 50 employees who have so far handled the operation of this center.
