Krystyna Ławniczek pseudonym “Ara”, participant in the Warsaw Uprising. She was a nurse in the “Ruczaj” battalion. At the beginning of the year, she celebrated her hundredth birthday.

The information about the death of the uprising was provided by the president of the capital, Rafał Trzaskowski, on Friday afternoon. “Very sad news. Krystyna Ławniczek ‘Ara’ is dead. She participated in the Warsaw Uprising as a nurse. Back in January, I would like to wish her her hundredth birthday … Mrs. Krystyna, the Capital City of Warsaw will always remember you” – he wrote on Facebook.

“Rest in peace, Hero!”

Krystyna Ławniczek was also said goodbye by the representatives of the Remember about Nas, Powstańców Warszawskich foundation. As reported on social media, the uprising died on Friday night. “It was a great honor that in recent months we were able to support Mrs. Krystyna as part of our Foundation’s activities. We express our condolences to our daughter Małgorzata and the whole family. Rest in peace, Hero!” – we read in the entry.

It also recalled Ara’s quote about her participation in the uprising: “I was not a hero. I did what I thought was right. It was necessary”.

Paramedic of the “Ruczaj” battalion

Krsytyna Ławniczek née Zaborowska was born in Warsaw on January 31, 1922. At the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, she was 22 years old. She served in the “Ruczaj” battalion in the company of lieutenant “Lodecki”, in the “Lisa” platoon. Its combat route covered the Southern Śródmieście. After the capitulation of Warsaw, she managed to leave the city with the civilian population.
