Robert Kubica and his Orlen Team AO by TF team have been waiting for their first victory this season for a long time. They were even awarded it once, and then taken away. This concerns the competition in Imola, Italy, where the Polish team finished second, but after the disqualification of Panis Racing, they were awarded the victory. They did not enjoy their triumph for long, however, as the French appealed the penalty decision and, after the case was considered, the victory ultimately went to them.

Robert Kubica the best on the legendary track. Polish team just behind him

Fortunately, there will be no such problems at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track. Kubica and his team were simply the fastest in Belgium. It started on Saturday, when Louis Deletraz secured pole position for Orlen Team AO by TF at the Sunday start.

There was also no doubt in the four-hour race. Kubica got into the car as the second of his team and quickly took the lead. He had to compete with the Polish team Inter Europol Competition, but in the end he gave the lead to Deletraz in first place an hour before the end of the entire race.

The Swiss driver made no mistakes and thanks to that he did not lose first place until the very end. In this way, he gave the Orlen Team AO by TF their first victory in the European Le Mans Series this season.

Second place was taken to the finish line by the Inter Europol Competition team from near Warsaw, who came 1.1 seconds behind Kubica and his colleagues. The rest of the field was much further back, and the podium was completed by the IDEC Sport team, who were over 30 seconds behind the winners.

After winning in Belgium, Orlen Team AO by TF led the ELMS general classification in the LMP2 class and has 65 points. Second place goes to Inter Europol Competition, which has only two “points” less. There are two races left until the end of the competition.

The first of these will take place on September 29 at the Mugello circuit in Italy, and the season will end with racing in Portimao, Portugal on October 19.
